We are keenly interested in developing an 'integrated' Apple Music service with our Network Players, but unfortunately, permission to do this from Apple has not yet been forthcoming. As such, Apple Music is not currently built into any of our Network Players or integrated via the StreamMagic app, USB audio or other means.
You will, however, be able to connect from the Apple Music app to your Network Player via AirPlay on iOS devices and Chromecast on Android devices. AirPlay is limited to a maximum of 16 bit / 44.1 kHz and Chromecast is limited to a maximum of 24 bit / 48 kHz. These are limitations of AirPlay and Chromecast and not necessarily of your Cambridge Audio Network Player.
AirPlay
You can stream from Apple Music to your Network Player using AirPlay from a compatible Apple device.
Choose More Devices and select the Apple AirPlay icon from within Apple Music. Apple AirPlay supports a maximum sample rate and bit depth of 44.1kHz/16bit.
CHROMECAST
You can stream from Apple Music to your Network Player using Chromecast from a compatible Chromecast device.
Choose More Devices and select the Chromecast icon from within Apple Music. Chromecast supports a maximum sample rate and bit depth of 24bit/48kHz/.
USB Audio from PC or Mac
The Apple Music desktop app can also be played from your PC or Mac via a USB Audio connection to your Network Player.
Connect a USB A to B cable between your PC or Mac and the Network Player and select USB Audio as the desired digital input through the Network Palyer's interface.
Bluetooth (aptX)
Audio can also be played over a Bluetooth connection. Some older Network Players such as 851N and CXNv2 require you to connect the optional BT100 Bluetooth receiver (sold separately) to your device and then pair it to your smart device.
