We've had multiple reports recently that some customers have been unable to get Spotify to work on their older Cambridge Audio network players that use the Sting-Ray streaming module. These Network Players include Stream Magic 6v1, Minx Xi, and NP30.
At the moment we are not sure what has caused this issue, but our engineers are currently investigating this with a view to better understating the cause of the issue so that a fix can be suggested. It is important to note that these devices have not had any firmware upgrades from our side for over 12 months, so this issue has not been brought about by something that Cambridge Audio has changed, but likely by something in a recent Spotify update.
We have had reports of some success from users with this issue who have reset their router and got Spotify to work, other users have found success disconnecting then reconnecting the LAN cable after a failed Spotify attempt.
If the above does not work for you it may also be worth changing the DNS settings on your router to 8.8.8.8 (secondary 8.8.4.4). These are Google public DNS servers and some customers have mentioned that this has also resolved the issue in some cases.
If you are still having trouble connecting to Spotify with your Sting-Ray device please contact our customer support team with the link below to assist further.
